edukativni centar / education center

In addition to being a place for learning and development of an individual, the education center also represents a place of integration into a society; therefore, it is needed to redefine the traditional concept of education and the conception of the facility in accordance with the modern understanding of the term and the concept of lifelong learning. Instead of the closed facility (“boxes”) which is divided into different rooms, an “open” structure is proposed in which the traditional division of space by walls is minimal. In this way we obtain a current area in which a variety of functions in the form of “islands” are placed. Such an area enables a high level of social interaction where, instead of separation, cohesion and unity are being promoted.

Formation of the roof garden as a public space is justified from an economic point of view, but it is far more important in terms of the social aspect. Such a move creates a natural landscape in an urban environment which enables contact between the human and the environment as one of preconditions to healthy, eco-conscious community.

The project was created as a graduate – Bachelor study at the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, course “The principles of sustainable development in the architectural design”, mentor Prof. Dr. Jelena Atanacković-Jelicic.
