The object of “Villa Dragan” is located within the apartment settlement on Jahorina mountain, near ski slopes. This object consists of 3 floors and includes 5 apartments, with the area of cca 270 square meters. By expanding the facility it is planned to increase the accommodation capacity, but also to introduce the new contents. In addition, the investor requested that the building gets new architectural and ambiance qualities combining elements of traditional mountain architecture and modern materials. The facility is planned for 12 apartments and 4 rooms. The ground floor is largely open and partially covered, and includes a variety of common areas for guests (living room, terrace, rooms for children), followed by technical and storage rooms.

The design of the facility is conditioned by the position, orientation of the plot and construction of the existing building. Due to the significantly large intervention (extension in horizontal and vertical direction), the existing building is given a completely new character.  Although in functional terms it is a unique facility, in terms of design it is “broken” and divided into two parts, connected by a single “shell”. The entire newly designed structure is a wooden skeleton with a skin made of wooden shingles, which covers a large part of the building. Materialization accentuates the contrast between the “cold” outside (rustic surface of the shingles) and “warm” interior (wooden lining boards), emphasizing the role of the mountain house as a shelter, a place which is protected and comfortable.
